Ever since graduating from one of the most prestigious art universities in Japan, Kazuhiko Tanaka had been in the front line of his profession of architectural design for 25 years. In 1996, he found himself having some extra time on his hand, when his work-load was cut down. He decided to clean up his storage space, where he had kept his old drawings and tools from his high school days. That, indeed, was his turning point in his life and his career. His urge and long-forgotten cravings for drawing opened his eyes, once again.
Mr. Tanaka started his own art journals, on which he would draw sketches of scenes from the dreams he had when he was a child. Flying through air is one of his most memorable dreams. He would also draw things that were influenced by his working days as an architect.
His art is heavily inspired by those drawings and sketches. His creations on paper became three dimentional figures, and his architectural models became objets dfart. As time went on, his figurines became [Fuu-jin], wind-people, and they fly through air as mobiles. And his architectural objects became light sources, [Kaze no Tou], wind towers.
Kazuhiko Tanaka feels as if he was destined to finally reach his career as an artist. Everything he has ever done in life was meant to lead him to this path of becoming an artist.
