Tabuchi Taro was born in 1977. He graduated from Osaka University of Arts in 2000. He has received awards from Asahi Modern Craft Exhibition, Takaoka Craft Exhibition, and International Mino Porcelain Exhibition.
Several years ago, Tabuchi Taro visited the Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii. It was overwhelming for him to witness the incredible power and scale of the Volcano, and to listen to the heartbeat of the Earth. This personal dynamic interrelationship with this natural monument has been an inspiration for his ceramic sculptures.
His dedication to nature has fostered an appreciation for the spontaneous creative process that occurs in the kiln. Unlike traditional ceramic artists that tightly control every step of the production, Taro embraces the unpredictability of the final outcome. Eschewing fussy preparation, he relished unexpected forms and shapes. Every piece is a perfect marriage of human ingenuity and natural creation.
