Madoka Sakamoto, born into the three-generation Japanese lacquer business, studied Japanese painting in college, and has become one of the most promising young artists. She has already earned numerous awards since graduating from college.

It has been a natural path for Ms. Sakamoto to combine her ideas with gold and silver leaves. She has grown up in a family business, where those materials were used on a daily bases. Her superb usage and techniques with gold and silver are credited to her special family environment.

Madoka Sakamotofs most distinguished characteristic of her painting shows her ability to create and paint modern people, while using plenty of the very traditional Japanese materials and scenes. The huge gap between modern and tradition offers dramatic impact to the viewers, and has created the unique and very special world of Madoka Sakamoto.
