Rei Chikaoka works by cutting, shaving, layering, and heating each plate of glass to produce his artwork. The final product is influenced by the degree of heat applied during the creative process. He is constantly experimenting with different temperature levels to create innovative artwork. Unfortunately, not all of these experiments end successfully.
Rei Chikaoka is currently serving as a part-time lecturer at Glass Research Lab, Industrial Craft Design Department of Musashino Art College.
